Certification as a

Project Management Professional

The Project Management Insitute (PMI) offers an opportunity to become certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP). This program will help you focus your education, training, and experience into a recognized professional competency in project management. Certification is base on successful completion of a test covering each of the nine sections of the Project Management Body of Knowledge along with successful fulfillment of education, experience, and service requirements. The PMI Web site provides more information about certification as well as information on other PMI activities and links to other related project management Web sites.

PMI Membership and Local Chapter Activities

There are local chapters of PMI in many cities around the globe, and you can find links to these local chapters through the PMI Web link above.  For example, in the Washington, D.C. area, there is a thriving local chapter of PMI that generally meets on the third Tuesday evening of each month at a hotel in Tysons Corner, VA.   If you're in the area, check out the Web site to make reservations for the monthly dinner meetings and for information on speakers and events.
